Texas Children’s Hospital moves up to second in U.S. News ranking of children’s hospitals

Texas Children’s Hospital placed second nationally in U.S. News & World Report’s 2022-2023 list of Best Children’s Hospitals — a remarkable achievement announced by the publication in June. The hospital rose from a No. 3 ranking in U.S. News in 2021-2022.

Since U.S. News began its rankings 14 years ago, no other pediatric hospital in Texas has achieved an overall ranking as high as Texas Children’s.

For the sixth year in a row, Texas Children’s is named as the best place in the country for children who need pediatric cardiology and heart surgery care.

For more than 60 years, the integrated, multidisciplinary team at Texas Children’s Heart Center® has combined cutting-edge technology with a compassionate and family-centered approach. Experts in every aspect of cardiac care work together to treat some of the rarest and most complex heart cases from Houston and around the world. Texas Children’s also recently opened a first-of-its-kind dedicated facility designed by and for adults with congenital heart disease.

Texas Children’s is one of only 10 children’s hospitals across the country to achieve the Honor Roll designation, and the only hospital in Texas awarded this distinction.

All the hospital’s subspecialties now rank in the top 10, with nine in the top five:

No. 1 Cardiology & Heart Surgery
No. 1 Pulmonology
No. 2 Neurology & Neurosurgery
No. 3 Neonatology
No. 3 Nephrology (Kidney disorders)
No. 4 Cancer
No. 4 Gastroenterology & GI surgery
No. 5 Diabetes & Endocrinology
No. 5 Urology
No. 8 Orthopedics

With the partnership of academic affiliate Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s is a distinguished leader and resource for health and hope to children and their families.

The U.S. News rankings methodology weighs patient outcomes including hospital and long term survival, patient volumes, infection rates, and reputation, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices.
