Pediatric societies name five new members

The American Pediatric Society (APS) and the Society for Pediatric Research (SPR) named five new members from the Baylor College of Medicine-Texas Children’s Hospital Department of Pediatrics in 2021.

Founded in 1888, the APS is the first and most prestigious academic pediatric organization in North America. APS members are individuals who have distinguished themselves as child health leaders, teachers, scholars, policymakers and clinicians. They work together to shape the future of academic pediatrics. New members include:

  • Sanjiv Harpavat, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, Pediatrics-Gastroenterology
  • Katherine King, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, Pediatrics-Infectious Disease, and Associate Vice Chair, Department of Pediatrics
  • Kristina Reber, MD, Professor and Chief, Pediatrics-Newborn, and Executive Vice Chair, Department of Pediatrics

The SPR encourages and supports pediatric research by creating a multidisciplinary network of diverse researchers to improve child health. Collaboration among SPR members creates meaningful progress for the future of children’s health. New members include:

  • Arvind Chandrakantan, MD, MBA, Associate Professor, Anesthesiology, and Pediatric Anesthesiologist
  • J. Chase McNeil, MD, Associate Professor, Pediatrics-Infectious Disease
