Department of Pediatrics 2020 Annual Report
New section chiefs appointed for Psychiatry, Psychology

New chiefs have been appointed to lead the Psychiatry Section and the Psychology Section of the Baylor College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics and at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Kirti Saxena, MD, associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, was named section chief for Psychiatry. Karin Price, PhD, associate professor of pediatrics-psychology, has been appointed section chief for Psychology.

Dr. Saxena has special interest in treatment for and research on pediatric bipolar disorder and conduct disorders. She earned her medical degree at Albert Szent-Gyorgi Medical University in Hungary. She completed her residency at the University of Southern California/LAC+USC Medical Center, a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, and a research fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Price provides diagnosis and treatment of anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. Her research includes both clinical and administrative aspects of behavioral health. She earned her PhD at the University of Connecticut, where she completed a fellowship in clinical psychology following her internship at Bellevue Hospital and the NYU Child Study Center.
